Gene Sharp: A Dictator’s Worst Nightmare

June 25, 2012

Political scientist Gene Sharp has spent a lifetime describing the dozens of nonviolent ways to create collapse of corrupt, brutal power. This CNN story amazingly tells of Gene Sharp’s genius. Everything from strikes, to staying home, to fasts. He identifies 198 methods. And he stresses that no regime, not even the most brutally authoritarian, can survive without the support of its people. So, Sharp suggests, take it away thru massive noncooperation, disobedience, and understanding how propaganda and language are used to control our thinking process.

Nonviolence – rather than violence – is the most effective way of overthrowing corrupt, repressive regimes.
